ACADEMICAL SUCCESS: Daniel as the case Study.
Daniel 1:3-4
3. Then the king instructed Ashpenaz, the master of his eunuchs, to bring some of the children of Israel and some of the king's descendants and some of the nobles, 4. young men in whom there was no blemish, but good-looking, gifted in all wisdom, possessing knowledge and quick to understand, who had ability to serve in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the language and literature of the Chaldeans.
OBJECTIVE: to understand the Academically keys to success.
POINT TO NOTES:
✓ Success is something you have to defined for yourself and no one can do for you.
✓ It is something that you define for yourself based on your values, passion and goals.
✓ If you want to succeed on something, love that thing. Nanpan Rings.
✓ If you are not courageous enough to take risk then you'll not succeed. Nanpan Rings.
✓ If you want to succeed don't wait for opportunity, create it.
WHAT IS SUCCES?
✓ Is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
✓ Success is the state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectation. It may be viewed as the opposite of failure. Wikipedia.
WHAT IS SUCCESS IN SCHOOL?
✓ It means getting good knowledge and grades in school.
KEYS TO SUCCESS (Academics).
1. Do not defile yourself.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. (Dan. 1:8).
✓ Refused to defiled yourself for any reason.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DEFILE YOURSELF?
✓ Defile means to become impure.
✓ To defile something is an act of great disrespect toward God or others.
✓ Sin can defile a person in school and others.
✓ Anytime you find yourself stealing, smoking and drinking alcohol, fornicating, doing chokes and others. It means you're defiling yourself.
2. Know Your God Very Well.
✓ Daniel truly know his God that is why he purpose it in his heart not to defile himself with the food that was dedicated to idols.
✓ He further added that those who know their God shall do exploit. Daniel 11:32.
✓ Divine success are for those who know their God.
3. Pray and listen to God anytime you encounter challenges (Academics).
✓ Daniel prayed 3times a day (Dan. 6:10-28).
✓ Daniel prayed after receiving bad news. When King Nebuchadnezzar issued an order to execute all of his royal advisers, Daniel and his friends prayed and received wisdom.
✓ When King Darius signed an order that nobody could request anything from any god other than him, Daniel prayed.
4. Choose Your Word Carefully.
✓ After King Nebuchadnezzar issued a country-wide execution, Daniel “chose his words carefully” and requested more time from Arioch, the lead executioner.
✓ He received wisdom after praying, and explained to the king that God could not only interpret his dream, but describe the dream to him. As he described the dream and its interpretation, his words deeply impacted the king because they were true and accurate.
✓ It impressed the king so much that Daniel and his friends were promoted to one of the highest places in government.
5. Always Speak The Truth Without Fear.
✓ Daniel live with a confidence to tell the truth in love without fear of the consequences.
6. Read.
KJV: In the first year of his reign "I Daniel understood by books". Daniel 9:2
✓ Reading your material (notes) daily is a great wisdom. But reading your notes and other inspirational materials is a greater wisdom.
✓ Daniel understand by books so you have no excuse by saying; "the lecturer doesn't come to class".
CONCLUSION: refused to defile yourself, know your God, pray and listen to God, becareful with your word on campus, speak the truth in love without fear and read your books.
